One thing that I do not hear discussed is the reasons why you even need a website. In my consulting work, I will frequently ask if the client is sure that they need a website.

Often, the person in charge of the technology at a church is not a star developer, designer, or even a computer person. This is a limitation. But, couldn’t it also be a hidden blessing? When I am doing a design or building a system, I will often seek out the least computer savy person and ask them, “does this make sense?”
Having someone who knows nothing about the web can be a very good thing. They might be able to ask questions that are too obvious to us techy types. And they might be able to spot a canned solution you would have missed that Òjust makes sense.Ó
