One thing that I do not hear discussed is the reasons why you even need a website. In my consulting work, I will frequently ask if the client is sure that they need a website.

Great way to START to see what people are looking for on the web. Have fun.
I put up a few examples of Google Trends analysis on my site that give a pretty good jumping-off point about the kind of things you can look at in a very broad scope.
I’m still trying to figure out exactly how useful it is at this point, as not many specific searches can be used, but it’s interesting to see what is the focus of many web searches.
