One thing that I do not hear discussed is the reasons why you even need a website. In my consulting work, I will frequently ask if the client is sure that they need a website.

Slideshare: Upload and Share Your Powerpoint Files
written by Blake Atwood
Thursday, October 5, 2006
Via Digg through the Techcruch blog, I present to you Slideshare.
According to Slideshare’s site, you can “upload your slides, share with a link, embed in a blog, discover interesting slideshows, tag, comment, and have fun.”
The writeup at the Techcrunch blog will answer some of your questions. Slideshare’s blog will answer even more of your questions, like the fact that you can permalink to any slide within the presentation, view it fullscreen, tag it, comment on individual slides, and view a slide transcript.
It’s in beta (of course, it’s web 2.0, right?) and you have to request an invitiation or receive one from a current beta user. I’d give you one, but I don’t have one. A user at Digg seems to think they’re going public fairly soon, so we’ll wait and see.
I’m not sure if I have to say this, but this would be incredibly useful for a church’s website as most pastors and speakers use powerpoint presentations for their messages. I’m anxious to try it out…once I get invited to do so!
