One thing that I do not hear discussed is the reasons why you even need a website. In my consulting work, I will frequently ask if the client is sure that they need a website.

Introducing Krugle - The Code Search Engine

BetaChurch has a pretty diverse audience, and I don’t usually get TOO technical here. But today is an exception. I just saw the Scoble Vodcast about Krugle – the code search engine. If you are a non techy… click to jump to the end.
If you are working on ANY development project, you need to know about Krugle.
To see the demo, watch the Scoble Demo Here.
Here is an example.
If I search for WordPress in the tool and select PHP as the language type I can see code snippets. CODE SNIPPETS. If you click on the link, like you would using a search tool, you are taken to that document. With all the code, with syntax coloring, AND a project tree on the right. If you highlight a word in the code and click search selected, it will do another search with that phrase. WOW. You can find associations, inheritance and more. All in this tool.
Lets try that again. This time with Ruby on Rails. Lets say I want to look at the methods in the ActiveRecord. Search for ActiveRecord in Ruby and what do you get? Everywhere that ActiveRecord is showing up.
This is one of the coolest development tools I have seen since I started playing with TextMate.
For the Skippers: OK, sorry for the diversion. If you skipped that whole post, you may have someone on your team that is working on your project… send them to krugle.com. They should just get it. You don’t even need to explain.

[…] In the same week I am learning Ruby on Rails, discovering the White Stripes and I just saw the Scoble Show about Krugle.com. The full post is at BetaChurch. […]
