One thing that I do not hear discussed is the reasons why you even need a website. In my consulting work, I will frequently ask if the client is sure that they need a website.
RSS
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. To learn more you can read this post at mezzoblue about RSS.
In short, the content is pushed to you. Using a news aggregator (Firefox, Safari, Netvibes, Bloglines and more) you can “subscribe” to a site and have the site tell YOU when content is ready and waiting to be read. For BetaChurch, you can subscribe to the feed that will show you all the latest news.
You can also subscribe to the comments being made on each post. You do that by clicking the “Subscribe to Comments Feed” at the bottom of each article.
